I began working on MMRY BANK in 2018 when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and her memories started to fade. My grandmother was one of the most vibrant and hilarious people on earth and I wanted to find a way to save her stories for our family and my yet to be born son. As I began speaking to more friends, it seemed as though this was a common need, wanting to save memories for kids and family members for the future.
As I spoke more about the idea with my wife, Sports Anchor Prim Siripipat, she mentioned that many of her friends in the public eye would value a way of privately sharing memories as well. As it turned out, this was a trend that was not held exclusively by those in the public eye. Many people had begun removing or limiting the personal content that they were posting on the very public and very major social media sites. At the end of the day, memories weren’t meant for everyone.
With MMRY Bank we set out to create a safe and private space for people to share memories freely with those people who really matter to them. Yes those memories can be the big things like weddings and anniversaries, but it’s really meant for the random small little everyday moments that you never want to forget and you’ll talk about forever.
In addition to controlling who receives each memory, we wanted to give you the ability to send these memories whenever you felt comfortable. Some stories are great to share right away and others, maybe you want to don’t want friends or family to receive until some special date in the future. Ultimately who you choose and when you choose to send your memory is fully within your control.
Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away before I could launch this app, so in her honor I’m going to be donating 10% of all revenue to the Alzheimer’s Foundation to help find a cure for memory loss that comes with this terrible disease. Hopefully in saving your memories for the future, we can help save people’s memories today as well.
Sincerely,
