My grandmother was one of the most vibrant, creative and hilarious story tellers of all-time. She would spend hours telling the story behind a single photo. She would describe the place, tell you about the feeling in the air and even burst out into song if it were relevant to the moment. My grandmother, better than almost anyone I’ve every met, knew that a memory is so much more than just a photo or video.

In 2015, despite seeming just as healthy and sharp as ever, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. Over the next few years this debilitating disease began to eat away my grandmother’s ability to recall even the most basic parts of her life. While we still had all her photo albums, the memories just felt hollow without her stories to fill the gaps.

It was in that moment that I dedicated myself to finding a better way to save and share our memories. I needed to find a way to infuse the full richness and emotion that goes beyond the thousands of photos we take with our phones, to get to the stories that happen between the photos.

In Jan 2021 we successfully launched MMRY BANK 1.0 into the app store as a more personal and meaningful way to share memories. While we were 2 years too late for my grandmother, our mission is to help save everyone else’s memories. And in her honor we’re dedicating 10% of every dollar we make to finding a cure for Alzheimer’s.
